Five for Friday

Another week is behind us.  Thanks to Doodle Bugs for hosting the Five for Friday linky party.  I love being a part of this!

For me, this was *supposed* to be the first week of school.  Sadly, it wasn't.  We are still on strike.  The government is still not playing nicely.  This picture is from Tuesday, out in the rain.

...even if it's raining.

As hard as it is, I so believe this fight is worth fighting.

That's really all I want to say about that.  Trying to focus on the positives.

On that note, here's something I'm excited about!  I ordered this off the internet quite some time ago.  It just arrived this week!

The hoodie reads "Proud to be a British Columbia teacher".  Sure am!  It's so warm and cozy.  It will be perfect for skating field trips or days where I just don't want to dress up.

Okay, I know, I'm on strike.  But, my wonderful principal came outside and asked if she could do anything for us.  I assume she's getting pretty bored alone in that school.  So, I brought her some things to laminate.  I wasn't going to pass up that offer!

I did a lot of cutting this week.  In that roll there is:

Shared Journal Covers (Amy Salazar)
Writing Process Posters (Fourth Grade Fizz)

Lamination makes me happy.

I did a lot of updating and adding to my TpT account this week.  One thing that's been on my list a while is to break apart the items in my Light Lapbook into individual lessons.  This is now done!  So, if you aren't after the entire unit, you can purchase just what you need.  I'm giving you the link to the introductory lesson, but you can find them all in my store under the "Science" category.

Also, I've added to my Chalkboard collection.  Here are some color words in 3 sizes - great for word walls, writing centres, or small flip books.  And yes - I included grey and gray so everyone is happy!

This video makes me happy too!  This bird is so cute!

  1. Yuck! I'm so sorry to hear that you guys are on strike! I've never, luckily, have had to deal with that but I'm sure it's no fun. However, that being said I think that it's great that you're fighting for what you believe in. Go you!

  2. It's so insane that you guys are still on strike but, keep doing what you're doing! People have to fight for what they believe in to get anything accomplished. Hopefully it is all resolved soon though! Have an awesome weekend dear!

  3. Yuck! Never fun to be on strike! I've been through some work to the rule weeks but luckily no strikes since my student teaching. Hope everything gets resolved soon! Enjoy the extra time (if you can).

  4. Stay strong! Strikes suck, we know that in the end they are in the best interest of maintaining quality education, but some will always see it as teachers being greedy. As if anyone who is that money hungry would go into teaching in the first place!
