Meet the Teacher Blogger

Stephanie from Falling into First created an awesome linky party: Meet the Teacher blogger.  I've been reading several of them, and decided I should join up, even if I am a day late to the party!  I've been finding some new friends to follow, and I hope you can learn a bit more about me through this post.

Hi!  My name is Angela.  I'm 29, a girlfriend, a fur mommy, teacher, and, of course, teacher blogger.  I've had my blog running for approx. 2 years now and feel like it is just really starting to get going.  This year will be my fifth year in the classroom, though my first year was only a half year.  I have always taught grade 4 (well, both of my practicums were grade 2, but paid positions have been grade 4).  I'm mixing it up slightly this coming year by moving to a 3/4 split.

This is Ryan and I.  We have been together since grade 12 - 2002.  Yeah, 12 years!  I can't believe how fast time has gone by.  We are from Powell River, but I moved first to Prince George for university and he followed.  From there, we both made the big move to Fort St. John in November 2008.  Although we are far from home (takes about 21 hours driving), and miss it often, we do really like it up here!

These are our furbabies.   The black one is a lab cross, and his name is Steve.  Steve is getting older and a bit grey.  He's 9.  We "stole" him from my brother.  (Actually, Adam moved in with us, and when he moved out, I wouldn't let him take his dog.)  The blonde one is named Mack.  He came from the SPCA and we are told he is a Siberian Husky, Akita, Chow cross.  I'm sure there are many other things in there as well.  He's 6.  They are both little stinkers and do all sorts of naughty things like dig holes and sneak garbage, but we love them dearly.

This is my favourite picture of Speckles!  He is a leopard gecko.  Originally, I purchased Speckles to be a class pet.  In fact, he got his name through class vote.  He was 4 when I bought him and the previous owner didn't give him a name - can you believe that?!?!  Speckles became ill (he's all good now!) and so he came home to be cared for.  It's not easy getting a gecko to open his mouth to syringe in medicine folks!  I've come to love him so much, he stays at home.  I'm thinking about getting some hermit crabs for my classroom.  I think I will get less attached to those, but you never know with me.

THESE ARE A FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS...

Licorice.  Chai lattes.  Pajama days.  Netflix.  Bright colours.  Tea.  Go mugs.  My classroom.  Scrapbooking.  Family.  Pictures.  Blogging and blog stalking.  Facebook.  Mono multi glue.  Flip flops.  Jamberry.  The beach.

IF YOU WEREN'T A TEACHER, WHAT WOULD YOU WANT TO BE?
I really can't imagine doing anything other than being a teacher.  I think it would be pretty cool to get paid to scrapbook though.
THREE LITTLE WORDS THAT DESCRIBE YOU.

Organized.  Creative.  Loud.

FINISH THE SENTENCE, "________,  SAID NO TEACHER EVER!!"
"I love it when a kid pukes in my classroom...said no teacher EVER!!"
This has happened too many times.... sure to happen again.

Q: IT'S YOUR BIRTHDAY AND YOU CAN INVITE ANYONE {DEAD OR ALIVE} TO THE PARTY. WHO ARE YOU INVITING?
Matthew Good.  He's my favourite.  Stuart McLean would be pretty awesome to hang out with too I think.
(There's some Canadian celebs for you American folks.)

Q: IF SOMEONE WROTE A BOOK ABOUT YOUR LIFE, WHAT WOULD BE THE TITLE?
Fur Covered Floor

Seriously, try as I might, my floor always has little doggy fur tumbleweeds on it.  It drives me nuts.

I don't know.... where did this question come from Stephanie!?

Q:YOU GET TO PICK ONE SUPERPOWER. WHAT IS IT?

Invisibility?  Yeah, I'm kind of nosy.

Q: WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE QUOTE OR SAYING?
"Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new" ~ Albert Einstein

Q: IF YOU HAD TO SING ONE SONG ON AMERICAN IDOL, WHAT WOULD IT BE?
I could sing anything by the Backstreet Boys without needing practice time.  I'm not saying it would be good, I'm just saying I know all the words.

Q: ARE YOU A MORNING PERSON OR A NIGHT OWL?
Morning person.  I go to bed between 9 and 10 pm, but up between 5 and 6 am most days.

Q: WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE RESOURCE THAT YOU'VE CREATED IN YOUR TPT SHOP?
I am most proud of my Light Lapbook.  This file is my biggest by far and took a lot of preparation.  The kids really loved using it too.

Q: SHARE SOMETHING WE MIGHT NOT KNOW ABOUT YOU!

Hmm..... I love 80s movies.  I have seen Grease, Footloose, and Dirty Dancing countless times.  I probably watch each of them 6 times a year, minimum.  Ferris Bueller, Gremlins, Back to the Future...... soooo many good ones!

Your turn!  Link up so we can learn about you.  Thanks for reading mine!

  2. Also guilty of knowing all the words to all the Grease songs. My sister and I loved musicals growing up, and still do.
